Yeah, somewhere I agree with that point that there must a certain age for retirement. Because generally, we see that our leaders are too much older they are not able to do their daily work but due to our system, they are indulging in politics. Politics is not only depended upon experience but also it depends upon energy, decision making power and last it must be able to handle that pressure. I think these things are the very important things to be a good leader and think if youth will come on that field then somewhere there is a possibility that they can do better. As far as experience is a concern it will come gradually, in this way somewhere we are able to bring youth in politics.

Dear All,

Age is only a number. Retirement is from life and not from a job Eg; Politician. As long as the person is physically and mentally fit and his experience is the need of the hour for any organization, then he should be retained to benefit society at large.

Hi, this is Samyuktha.

So, friends in my point of view, that the retirement age for politicians is the best idea to be implemented.

That means if the political leader becomes old then they are not having so much of energy to rule the system. And also they are eating so much of money by ruling the parties years and years.

The retirement age is applicable to all government officers like that it should also be applicable to the political leaders.

That means every political leader must have up to 50 years of age is enough not more than that. After the age of that, they lose their vision capability and energy and feeling some sickness as our political leader like that Chandra Babu Naidu.

So I am not opposing that all our political leaders are not like that based upon their own energy.

The youth leader will have so much of ideas than the old leader.

So I conclude that the government should take necessary steps to implement this retirement age system very soonly.

According to me, there should not be complete retirement from politics on the basis of age. Because, it takes time to learn for freshers in politics. So, the experience acquired by our senior politicians should not be wasted.

So, I think there should be a role of senior advisor before the retirement from politics.

My view,

Joining politics (age>21).
In politics and serving for nation (<60).
Senior Advisor for newbies (60<age<65).
Retirement (age>65).

I personally believe that older politicians have more experience and more knowledge of how this world works. They make much wiser decisions and above all, people tend to trust them instead of preferring a new, young politician.

Though young politicians would understand the current generation better but I think that age doesn't matter in any profession. If someone is good in what they do, then people do not see their age. Mr. Narendra Modi is 68 years old and he is still active with millions of supporters.

So, age is just a number and I don't think that the retirement age should be fixed.

Hi everyone,

According to me, politics is not a field which requires extensive hard work physically. Instead what politics asks for is an experienced and enlightened personality to make decisions in the favor of the country. A cricketer at 30 is considered a senior cricketer because cricket demands physical fitness but a politician even at the age of 50 is considered an amateur because what it demands more is experience.

Yes, youngster spirit can go a long way in improving our country's political condition, but without the guiding light of experience bestowed upon by the senior politicians, they may go berserk. Age limit will not be a favorable solution to this pity political condition of our country. Instead we should try to strike and eliminate the root of all evils which include corruption, trafficking etc. And then only can we boast of being the largest and the most successful democracy of the world.

Yes. I agree with the topic that retirement age should be there for politician also. As we are a county 2.5 bl population, majority of whom are youngster's. After a certain age the old politician should step down by themselves.

So that a fresh generation can come up and take the charge and help the country grow with fresh energy & new Ideas. After retirement Senior politicians can work as mentor to the young gang and share their experience which will give proper guidance to the new people.

There should be a retirement age for politicians as it is beneficial for the growth of the country as there is no autocracy and dictatorship in the country which is very harmful from past experience, and also mans physical and mental capability is not able to perform well after some time. But at the same time in the case of some situations, it is no barrier as take example of us presidents who cross 70 and was successfully able to run the country also Vladimir Putin is their if he will not their then western country and us will balkanise the Russia. So, it does not depend on age it also depend on situation of country when to retire and when not.

I think there should be a retirement age for politicians too. The age is debatable.

I think 65 is a good time for retirement.
Some people are saying that the more experienced the better.

Please note that "age" is not equal to experience.

If you think a person below 50 can't manage well, then you are not trusting yourself.
From age of 25 to 45, you have 20 years of experience, which is not less.
Think people think. Don't be afraid to take the responsibilities.
Gandhi ji started a revolution when he was below 40.

We need more young people like Gandhi.

- who are not afraid to question the "normal",
- who has the courage to stand up and speak.
- who has the dare to take decisions.

Hi everyone, in my opinion, I don't think that the age limit should be imposed on politicians because:

1. Age cannot be criterion for judging someone's working ability.

2. We need experienced people to understand and take some crucial decisions in favor of the mass.

But also we need youth to enter in the politics because:

1. India having the largest youth population (around 326 millions people in the age GRP of 10 to 24) needs more enthusiastic and energetic minds to represent them which can implement innovative ideas for better future.

2. Sometimes it happens that with the same person getting elected again n again some issues do not get resolved because of the same approach/mindset towards those problems and hence we need someone with fresh approach.

3. Old seats need to be vacated for giving chance to young aspiring minds.

But since we want both energy and experience in our system, this is what I propose: We can have age limit at the lower levels like MLA's and Ward members etc. Where people elected can be youth and they can act as the bridge to fill the gap between the mass and aged politicians at the MP level.

This way, these young people can get experience working at lower level under the supervision of these aged politicians and later on they can get promoted to that level which usually happens.
