Why is that every employer I speak with asks me If I have an MBA. When I have done a post grad in HR management and applying for an HR related jobs and all they care is if you have an MBA. I have also done all my education from abroad and applying for a job here in India and it seems to be struggle.

Swamiji once said that "the difference between an average man and a great man lies in the degree of concentration". First of all you've got to believe in yourself that yes! you can do. The depth of water actually causes the variation of waves in the river. The greater the depth the smaller the waves. The future prospect of MBA in modern India is very great, all you need to do is just to enlarge the depth inside you and see success will kiss your feet at every step. Never LOSE hope my friend.

MBA is definitely over-rated in India. India being a developing economy, with huge market potential and career opportunities booming, there is definitely high demand for MBA graduates. My personal opinion is that MBA is not for everybody. One needs to be passionate about their career and should have the required ability. MBA has become the order of life.

I think in India there is a great opportunities for MBA students but it is only failure when a person have low level knowledge about the practical work of the industries. So it is important to gain maximum knowledge of the market.

I think that the future of a person depends only if he selects his course according to his wish. MBA graduates will have very good job offers in India in the coming years as India is going to be a big business location. The central government has shown the green flag for the implementation of foreign investment in India. Really in the coming years the life of Indians would be on the hand of great MNC's. MNC's will decide: what indians should eat, wear and how we should live. So there will be many job offers for MBA graduates. Even the MBA graduates can start their own companies if they don't get any job.

My contention is that MBA is not highly over-rated, its just that if you do your MBA from a good institute like top 20s, it surely has a lot of value, and if you do that no matter what, nobody can stop you from getting a good job. Because I have seen people suffer, who haven't done their MBA from a very good institute, as they are not able to maintain consistency in their jobs. You will find 1000s of institutes in the country but there are only a handful who have value.

Dear friends,
Let us all agree to the fact that India being a developing Economy and a country which is seen as a super future super power has one of the biggest and most powerful resource available, Human Resource. Doing an MBA from an reputed institute is only the tip of the ice berg. People Pay hefty fees, Toil their heads and yet MBA fetches them nothing, At the end of the day you have, 1000 students with merely 10 placements. What a shame! But the Irony is people knowing the Dark side of MBA, still choose it. God knows why?
Lets realize the fact, that its a business deal where students loose and the Mafia (Institute Owners) win.
Its a Win-Lose situation, chose yours wisely.

I feel MBA gained popularity because of the growth of MNC's and separation of ownership and management. Doing MBA or not is purely a personal decision and it should be left for him or her to decide whether MBA will be suitable or not. Increasing complexity of business makes the need of management graduates imperative who are equipped professionally in strategic thinking.
So, according to me, MBA is not at all over rated.
