I agreed with Mr. Jayabaskar, when I have started my career after Graduation, I have faced lots of problem, because that was my 1st job and I realized that experience is more important compare with the class room studies.

From my point of view classroom education creates more managerial skills, we learn all type of theoretical knowledge from our classroom, if we are not knowing anything about the subject, we can't practice in our work. Because of that there are many business schools to bring future managers from there we can easily learn how to handle a situation, what all things we need to do when we become a manager.

I agree with topic, Manager are born and not trained however I would like to reframe it as though managers are born however they need to take some training to polish some of the skills. Also training can lead them to right direction as well as help them to take desiction in carieer path.
Practical knowladge would help person to get rid of the instances as well as decesion making in future however classroom training enables them to aviod instances.
Practice make man perfect but grooming is also required to match the skill in todays compititive era.
In classroom we basically shares the situations faced during the our day to day work which can preferably used for referece hence classroom training is needed.

A very warm good morning to all of you. According to me class room education gives you the basics to handle different situation which anyone can face. But live experience helps us to get a border prospective. It is also said that "failure is the stepping stone of success". It is automatic that when you face a situation in real n fail you will try to analyse it that why I didn't met with success? What was wrong? What suits the situation best and in what could have been done to get success. But it is not possible to get experience of everything in real and then solve the problem. So both are necessary as both of them add to your knowledge. Thanks.

I am a manager with no college education. I am 50 and have been in management for about 12 years. Over the years I have learnt a wealth of information through the daily experience. I have also witnessed very poor decisions made by very inexperienced managers with a full college degrees. Experience is key.

You are talking about Dhirubhai Ambani but have you think of Lakshmi Mittal the 6th Richest Man in the world and you will be astonished to find that he is only a commerce graduate still he make it to the top. He didn't Join B-School or Management Institution. What I means to say that it Live Experience that can attain you to a greater height your Fundamental knowledge from classroom can only helps you in understand the basics but only practical knowledge ca step you to ladder of success.

I think that there should be some base for everything, so classroom act as a base for our fundamental knowledge, if we will not be knowing about the fundamental rules then how could we implement the practical world? no doubt experience come from working but we coild only be succesful when we gave studies the fundamentles and with the education only we colud implement in the proper manner, practical ways are adopted after seeing the corporate scenario, if the person has not done any prac thing in classroom then he might face the prob in corporate world, therefore prac things are made understand in the classrooms so I conclude that the base for teh managerail skills is the education in the classroms.

Classroom learning works as a R&D department of any company which is necessary for any new product launching before launching a product it is necessary to check the product and make correction whatever is needed, this same thing we get in our classroom learning then we get ready for launch in corporate world.
Someone also talk about managerial skill comes by experience many more industrialist got success without going not even a single day to college but I want to ask a question to all of them only one question if it is right then why the son of DHIRUBHAI AMBANI went to harvard university for their MBA. If his father never gone in any Indian B school and why executive MBA. Why people come in IIM and any other B school after working for 1yr or 2yr or more experience.
So I want to conclude that unless you have not any theoretical knowledge you can't be a good manager. It could be a case that the person can get success in marketing not exactly in marketing but in sales but if they want to get success in finance or supplychan or HR. He/she must have the knowledge of classroom learning.

Well i totally agree to this point as Jayabaskar said that when you have to face the world you cant just speak out the stuff you have learnt in the class. There are different conditions in real life. What we learn in the classroom is the reel life but in the real life we need experience to face these challenges. And skill comes with experience.

There is no need of studying the rules to play a game, it can be learnt by seeing others playing or playing himself one can learn which comes from experience. This is called practical experience.
One should know how to manage things practically which comes by experience.
So it is experience which make a person how to manage things practically. So managerial skills comes by experience and not when theoretically learnt.
So experience speaks for itself.
