Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

From reading this thread, it seems that none of you are dog owners. My pet dog is very loving. However, when she is sleeping and I accidentally awaken her, I might end up losing a toe to her startled fangs. This is how the expression "let sleeping dogs lie" began. It does not refer to people who are lazy.

It refers to what might happen to one if one brings up a problematic subject that no one is particularly worried about at the moment or that has already been settled. By reawakening others to an old problem, one might get bitten on the proverbial toe. In other words, one may create more trouble for oneself by bringing up a sore subject then by letting it sleep peacefully as does the dog at my foot- until I accidentally bump that foot into her.

Friends, what I've noticed in this discussion forum is that most of us have taken the meaning of 'Let Sleeping Dogs Lie' literally!

This is an idiom which means 'avoiding interfering in a situation that is currently causing no problems but may well do so as a result of such interference. '.

Dear friends according to our topic "let the sleeping dog lie" 1st of all we have to understand that why and how this is important to us.

As we know that development is very necessary part of our life to live our life happily.

In this world there is no one is perfect.

So if someone who is inactive in their life, then its our sincerity to encourage and motivate positively them to stand and grow up and develop our society, our company, our politics and our country.

I want to say that Sleeping dogs refer to those kind of people which are inactive, lazy they do not want to do something in his life.

Instead of leaving them, we try to motivate, encourage and try bring out his hidden ideas. Because no one has empty mind, every one have some talent. When he/she will do something its betterment for family, society, and our country.

I think the given statement is absolutely correct as everyone in the society are not actively involving with surroundings. As if there is any problem arise in one's life, then the others think in a way that" if I solve it what I will gain ". But for the last few years, it has been diverted to serve the people and gain the love. I hope this will continue further and make a society with love but not with selfishness.

If some or other had helped us when I along with my friends met an accident then the one who lost his life may be alive. So I hope at least respond to surroundings rather than sitting idle.

Here, the topic of discussion is "let sleeping dogs die" and I totally disagree with it. Sleeping dogs are the persons who are not aware of any situations surrounding them. Being a responsible human in this society, it's our duty to let them know what they are missing by doing so so that we can improvise our society. Sometimes, by waking them up, we may create some trouble in our lives, but as long as we are smart enough to tackle those, we should enjoy waking the sleeping companions and give a wave to activeness and progress.

Sleeping dogs, in my opinion, are the illusion our society like corruption, theft, illiteracy. We all must awaken the sleeping dog in order to guard our nation. A sleeping dog is of no help until he becomes aware of what's happening around him. In other words, we must literate people of our country and make them more aware of the happenings around the world. If the dog is awake then with his alertness and strength he will be able to do great good to society.

"Let sleeping dogs lie" i.e. let the dispute between the two persons (sleeping dogs) be pacified, let them behave as if they forgot what happened (let them lie). This would be beneficial rather for both the parties.

As recalling the feud would lead to unnecessary stress/tension between them and the feud will not be ended up this way. So, I think one must let go the past matters in order to lead a happy, healthy life.

I agree with the given statement because it not good for anyone to dig out the past problems and make a way to them to happen in the present. It is not necessary task. Worrying about that is the waste of time. It is a foolish thing of doing so.
