As Indian law says that everyone is equal on the basis of color, caste, religion etc. So, why do we need reservation.

1. There are sometimes when a general student is not able to get admission in college because seats for general are full.

2. It also encourage corruption in India. For example general people make fake certificates to get benefits.

Reservation was made to maintain equality among the people, but still there is no equality among us. A general category students percentage should be above 90% and for obc/st/sc category students percentage should be above maximum 60%.

Reservation makes one of the fundamental right of our constitution false that is "Right To Equality". Yes it's bringing inequality to the society. If all people are treated equally then why reservation ?let all to come out and feel the taste of competition. Someone said about history. Yes in past backward classes suffered a lot. Isn't reservation repeating past. Early backward classes where the sufferer and now the general. Should we repeat the same mistake of our forefather? The time, when the constitution was written by B. R Ambedkar was completely different from current time. So I strongly believe that it should be rewritten.

I also would like to highlight that because of reservation the quality of doctors, engineers and other professionals is falling down which is very dangerous for the progress of our country. Development of our country can be achieved only by the uplift of all the sections of the society irrespective of cast, creed and color. Knowledge and hard work should be valued not caste.

I think, reservation should be permitted, but to some extent only. For example, my age is 27, now onwards I would not be able to apply to some government organization or PSU. Person belonging to reservation category can apply with 5 years of relaxation. How can you justify reservation by his or her age. Also general category applicants pay fees Rs. 500 and reservation category applicants pays only 50. Also there is reservation in marks. From my personal point of view there should not be any reservation in age. And government has to think 100 times on it.

Hi friends,

This is very sensitive topic. As student belong to lower caste think it should be kept continued & students belong to higher caste wants to finish it.

I also want to finish it. I think concessions should given on the basis of income not on the basis of caste. The students who belong to lower caste are getting concessions for both marks as well as fees. If a guy is brilliant enough then he won't need any help for getting admission in good collage. In almost all schools & collages there are different merit lists for open & reserved students which is not fair.

If we stop this, then & then only mission 20-20 is possible & India will be a one of the developed country.

Thank you.

Let me start with stating some facts. First of all reservation in India is created by constitution of India whose committee's chairman was Dr. Ambedkar who stated that reservation can never be vanished, it is to be reviewed every 10 years. It was created to reduce gap between higher and lower class. Total Constitutional Reservation is 49.5%.

But what I think is reservation in education is not an alternative for social equality. Why ? let me give you an example. A student of general category getting 70 percent not getting admission and a student of reserved class who got 20-30 percents gets the admission. Because the applicants of reserved class is too less as compared to general caste while reservation of seats for them is around 40-45 percent. This percentages were decided by proportion between reserved population (45.3 percent of total) and total population. I think they should decide according to the number of applicants.

I think passing criteria should be same for both and then government funding should be provided if a reserved class student gets admission based on criteria.

Yes yes. Everyone should be against reservation. Due to this reservation children are taking advantage and this is followed only in India. They are taking undue advantage that is they are not even feeling stressed while writing exams like MAINS and ADVANCE for IIT, they are saying casually that they will get a rank in those exams. Now, we the general caste people are feeling that if we were born as a member of SC/ST caste then what will be our future.

We should totally oppose this so that we will have a developed nation as other countries like US.

Reservation- what people think doesn't matter, but what the people thinks who lie under obc/sc/st category who can avail the facility of reservation, it matters. Those are getting this facility are in favor of reservation. But RESERVATION, not should, it must be on the basis of income and expenditure of a family rather than caste. Reservation system was made for the benefits of backward peoples, it meant for giving the chance to them who are poor mainly for SC/ST and OBC (it was assumed that SC/ST categories were very backward and didn't have basic education at the time of supreme court decision).

But now the condition has been changed. This is not justified that the son of an IAS officer who belongs to SC category shall get reservation. Government should think about it. What about them who belongs to general but not getting the proper facility or the student studying in MCD school. Otherwise starting line of education should be one. Each and every student get same level of education and it will be proved that who is hardworking and intelligent and no will judge someone on basis of caste.

What reservation? The government of India rules of reservation is very bad, because they are continuing 1950 to still same that's cast wise. This is only supported some political parties for vote bank. About this my opinion should give support for all backward (poor peoples anycast) class not for some castes. Please look at other cast also there also have poor peoples.

Hi I believe reservation should be finished as soon as possible because it has already supported the backward classes to that level that now they can stand on their own because it is high time now as the general categories have suffered a lot of competition where in reputed universities a general candidate has to bring at least 95-97% in those same universities SC's&ST's get admission easily by grabbing only 85%-87% I want to ask why it is not finishing now? how much more time we would have to suffer? it is clearly violation of right to equality "and now it is our right and we want it".

Reservation on the basis of caste should be completely abolished. The time when caste reservations were introduced, there was an immense need for it. But the scenario has quite changed now. Casteism no longer prevails in this country. Reservations should be purely based on the economic status of people then only it can serve its purpose.
