Foreign Television Channels are Destroying Our Culture

Why only foreign channels? Any kind of inappropriate visuals or verbals should be banned like in internet, TV, songs, magazines etc. In order to discuss about so called "destroying our Indian culture" we should know what it really is. I can not mention his/her name, but what he/she written is unbelievable!

According to it wearing inappropriate clothes, keeping different hairstyles, having homosexual relationships are against Indian culture. It not at all matters what you are from outside. What really matters is what you are from inside. So, in a Nutshell I just want to tell you that banning anything is not going to change anything, unless we change ourselves.

According to me, foreign television channels are destroying our Indian culture, because if anyone watch any TV channel, they think that mentally I too change such heroin style. So easily the teenagers change, like their costumes, hair styles etc., this spoils our Indian culture.

The children also affected by foreign channel because now a days more number of children from their childhood watching some unwanted scene which is below their maturity level where they couldn't differentiate which is good or bad, so easily they are addicted, and forget our culture.

Now a days children and youngsters are very important in any developing nation. If youngster and children easily change, then how will they develop their country. Finally foreign culture is destroying our Indian culture.

I want to make a point here that it is not the channel that matters, what matters most is the content. How can we ban & blame foreign channels if our own channels are not any less in terms of spoiling our culture. Can we appreciate songs of sunny leone, honey singh & bhojpuri dances? Are they a part of our culture? Absolutely not. So we should first check out ourselves before blaming others.

The second lies in our conservative mentality and due to this the one who suffers the most are our children. From the day he/she is born we start planning & saving for their studies in America and here we are talking of banning foreign channels. Imagine them getting to Harvard the first day and being ragged up because our very cultured children simply can't adjust to this new world, the will feel like aliens and will die of inferiority complex.

In my view the whole world is like a village nowadays and we should try to respect the culture and thinking of all of them. And we should teach our child as well to respect all cultures. The more we restrict them the more we will lose them. So talk to them, tell them & be frank with them. Because remember, TV is not the only medium it is one of the mediums. Internet, magazines, friends are still there.

Talking in favour of the topics I would say yes Indian culture is somewhat affected by the foreign television channels. Though the picturisation, graphics and finally telling the moral of the episode is best of all other television channels along with that some of these foreign TV channels simply attracts the viewers because of their various beauties of presentation.

But, the purity of India is its culture like obeying our elders, respecting senior citizen, knowing about the wrong and right thing from our inner soul which at times tells us not to do the thing which it feels incorrect or wrong is somewhat easily affected by that great western culture TV channels.

Since the great religion tells the beauty of the world simply by their beautiful and sensible words (Such as The Mahabharata, Indian Vedas, The Bible, Quran etc) and not by any vulgarity.

I don't think so that by the foreign television, how can destroy our culture its depends upon a person and his views TV channels are for entertainment. So they would never harmful for our culture. Just need positive thinking and believing in our-self. Nothing can destroy our culture. If we have good intention and positive thinking.

God evening friends, I think all the foreign channels are not bad, also most of the Indian television channels are not good.

Say for instance discovery, NGC, History channels etc are showing many good documentaries, have the quality of info regarding science, history, business, innovative ideas etc.

But in contrary most of the Indian English News channels having the slave mindset adopted from colonial British and Macaulay way of education indulge in airing of biased news, twisting of facts, aligning with one particular community or religion or political party and ignoring attacks and conversions problems faced by other religion and community and also lobbying for foreign imported culture like gay life style and Freedom without any responsibility etc.

And indulge sensationalism and shady journalism, avoiding intellectual debate on national issues and totally ignoring positive aspects of our country and its rich culture, focusing only on spicy, negative and airing news and maligning particular community or organization or individual without any proof.

In fact, some of the documentaries shown in discovery channel on ancient Indian philosophy and pilgrimage site in Himalayas, Kethernath, with the respectful manner along with lines of Upanishads, without western prejudiced view and twisting of facts.

This is a burning issue in India to talk or speak about. It's not correct to make foreign channels as a wrong issue. If we see a new thing we would like to watch it with more excitement. But watching is only our duty but not imitating it. Even we don't have right to judge what is wrong or what is correct because we ourselves are part of it.

Why should we think foreign channels are the reason for the reason for destroying our culture. Why don't we think mistake in ours?

Friends I would like to say one more thing with an example.

If a boy of clever student has failed his examination due to illness. So he asked to his teacher to give him one more chance. The teacher has excused him and given a chance to write an exam in one separate room and keeping with him an invigilator.

So the teacher have kept papers near him and she has gone away. The teacher had confident that he is a clever student so he will not copy and she left that place. By going teacher outside he has decided to copy exam and he has copied the exam.

Mistake is in boy or in teacher. No there is no solution for it. Because teacher have a confident that he will not copy the exam and by keeping papers in front of student he will definitely have a little hope to copy the examination.

So it the mistake is in ours we don't have right to judge what is right and what is wrong. So I would like to say one more thing whatever we do it depends on our mindset. believe in you and your heart then nothing is going to be bad.

If foreign channels can be accused of spreading bad taste to the delicate minds of our youngsters then give me a reason of not blaming Indian mythologies to stimulate public to carry out the shittiest cultures like polygamy, dowry, physical assault, rapes and so on. Because its totally Indian.

If something seems to be very much indigenous causing problems carried out through long time we hardly could imagine to hoarsely protest against it, just because its belonged to the local geographical area where we have been used to live in since long.

Just put a glance over Linga puja thriving in India where as no other country barely think of pampering such bad practices going on in massive scale as religious beliefs. Just watch Ramayana where Rama relinquish his beloved consort in a doubt that she might be touched by some uneven aspect, still we worship that character as a god in a hidden desire that someday if we could smite our girls the way he as we thought did.

Even Mahabharata we show explicitly the worst fortune suffered by two women namely Radha and Droupadi by their lover and relatives the way which we glorify as our pride. There is no dearth of examples set in Indian mythologies showing violence, incest, demoralization immensely we hardly count them. If sexuality are supposed to be as bad as worth paying nothing but immense disgrace, then how could you guys flag ancient temples like Khajuraho and Koark which promotes nudity and eroticism hugely as our national pride.

If you guys wants to go for subjugating foreign shows promoting violence which you jerks blamed for spreading the sense of inhuman intolerance among youngsters then my question to you is how could those illiterate people, from the villages who never been in such a situation to afford television sets or cable channels to get connected, be so violent?

And those shittiest TV serials emphasize on frail characters as a good and ideal one who can do nothing but futile moaning and weeping with petty sentiments. Why not they show some strong women who fights with boys. Why your Indian TV serials fend off from reality and choose to live in utopia?

As for scenes which aren't very suitable for television viewing, they are edited by the channel before airing. For example, swear words used in the big bang theory are muted and the words are not shown, and love scenes are cutout, which in my opinion is a good thing.

Before broaching the subject I think it would be wise to remember that the reason English shows are becoming more popular in our country is the lack of hyped up drama scenes (except for shows that actually belong to that genre).

Secondly, it may be correct to say that the shows a person watches tend to affect his or her mindset, however in the end it depends on the viewer's personal discretion or a child's parents decisions whether or not a particular program is healthy for viewing. I agree that Indian culture is at the opposite end of American culture.

In fact in my opinion, even though we have our faults, as a whole, the country is good. As for creativity, it seems that most of the shows, in our country have become repetitive and the standards have gone to the dogs. Earlier, when we used to have weekly shows on Doordarshan (like the prime time shows in US) , it allowed for better scripts, character development and plots.

Concepts also seem to have taken a backstage. Production houses today, are going with the tried and tested formula of what seems to work with the masses, which is sadly a relentless drone of melodrama. Also, when directors do try to send a better message to the people of our country, most people tend to not focus on it, due to the glamorization of antagonistic roles. The television today in India could play a pivotal role in the development of society.

However it is necessary also, to maintain a harmony between public awareness, education and entertainment factor. As for corruption of culture by foreign shows comes into play, need anything be said about the type of statements made on certain comedy shows, or the somehow stupid argument that Hindi movies have to have a item song, which has a crass tune, pathetic musical arrangement and lyrics, along with offensive videos. Shows such as the blacklist or many others may not send a public message, and it isn't necessary that every show does.

Because there's just a time when you need to unwind after a hard day's work and watch something funny. But that doesn't mean it has to have double meanings like most our Hindi movies, or have to have slapstick comedy either. The immense popularity of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai proves this. Also, nobody says this, but its probably time that certain shows end. I mean, some shows are humiliating and portray Indian police in bad light.

Our police don't repeat the same sentence over and over 10 times just for dramatic effect. They are in fact brave, and very intelligent, however the characters portrayed in a few shows are stupid and dumb. Also, the plots just keep on getting worse. Mantras? Bhoots? Either make an intelligent cop show like crime patrol or criminal minds or castle, or just don't make one. Indian audiences are intelligent.

However in some shows, the directors feel the need of over explaining things, as though the Indian popularization able to place two and two together. Make TV intelligent. Make morally responsible shows which are also entertaining.
