Foreign Television Channels are Destroying Our Culture

Why only foreign channels? Any kind of inappropriate visuals or verbals should be banned like in internet, TV, songs, magazines etc. In order to discuss about so called "destroying our Indian culture" we should know what it really is. I can not mention his/her name, but what he/she written is unbelievable!

According to it wearing inappropriate clothes, keeping different hairstyles, having homosexual relationships are against Indian culture. It not at all matters what you are from outside. What really matters is what you are from inside. So, in a Nutshell I just want to tell you that banning anything is not going to change anything, unless we change ourselves.

Now the topic that we want to discuss here is about foreign channels destroy our culture.

Friends, in my opinion, some channels destroys our culture. For an example some fashion related channels like fashion channels showing some dresses that's not suitable for our culture. But in our India, everyone follows their own freedom for what to wear and not. That's completely depends on individual. But still some foriegn channels introduce new fashion and we are trying to imitate that. So That may destroy out dress culture.

After seeing all the comments I seriously felt to comment on the answers.

1. The topic never says about the programs that's shown in India. Its completely about the foreign television channels who are destroying our culture.

2. Whoever has written the answers over here has not seen many foreign channels or serials other than animal planet, discovery, nat geo on one side and other cartoon serials which they are damn sure are not created in India.

The truth is there are certain serial makers who are insulting our culture and making fun of it. Now we may say its the power of Bollywood that has made its magic all over the world but nowadays it has become a fashion to put a minimum of one Indian character in each and every serial. This seems to be great but its not. The directors are making those Indians to insult our culture. They are making fun of the rituals we follow, the superstitious beliefs which we had believed from a long time (and some which has scientific reasons too, which obviously we don't know). They are making those Indian actors over there to eat beef which you know how much a serious crime it is considered in here.

I should accept that animal planet, discovery and other channels showing about wildlife and cars and what not but not based on a certain story, are doing a good job. Just see those serials which has a story then you will get the answers.

I do accept that the reality shows are worst in our country since many of you might have guessed by now that its completely fake. But other serials are doing a good job where they are concentrating more on women empowerment. Some serials are showing about the crimes that have taken place before so that people esp. House wife's' can get to know about it and be mentally prepared for it. And the best of all, almost all serials, may be a bit boring, but have never gone against our culture.

Note: It may be any particular's choice to see the channel or serial. Its his right if I have to please him/her. But it never meant that we support those channels or serials esp. Foreign channels to comment or insult our culture. It was always our culture and I'm proud of it.

According to me, watching to foreign television channels may not destroy our culture because it is up to the individual, one should grab new and good things by watching the flaunt English channels which can develop our communication skills. Here, Newton's third will depict a lot, as it says for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction we people are trying to change our culture into Western but the foreign people are trying to follow our customs. So it is up to us to watch the foreign channels or not.

In my view, it's our thought that foreign channels destroy the culture. No doubt it's the fact.

The main thing is to control ourself first. We are continuously watching and getting the bad impact.

Even I too see such. We can't blame anyone for a sake of destroying the culture.

We are getting addicted to it. If we are not addicted then any destroy in culture.

According to my opinion, we cannot blame completely foreign channels for destroying our culture. There is something to learn from everything what we take from these depends on our wisdom. There are channels which are very useful for our education and there are some channels which brings out our hidden talents like axn etc and the cartoon channels are a boon for the children for improving their ideas and for their entertainment. But there are some channels which portray unethical culture. An adult can make a wise decision but this may not seen in the case of kids so there must be adult supervision on such channel which destroy our budding minds of kids as the childhood is the crucial time values of our culture should be learnt by every child as long as the parents and people around the child are responsive in carrying the culture then these channels will never effect our culture.

I'm thirteen years old. And I'm not a Indian citizen. I'm a pure sri lankan. But India and sri lanka are very close countries. So I think our cultures are also very similar to each other. Foreign channels don't distroy our cultures. If we use it as a tool it won't do any harm to us. But the problem is most of us think that they are the reason why our cultures fade away smoothly. ! if we look deep into this problem, we can perfectly figure out that its our own minds which distroys our cultures.

I say that foreign channels are not alone responsible for the destruction of our culture. The most important factor that is a threat to our Indian culture is indians themselves. The attitudes of indians are changing as time passes and we are forgetting our valuable culture. The most important group here is the young generation. They have started adopting everything easily. But at the end of the day it is upto them to what they are getting adopted to.

Foriegn channels show their way of practices which can be watched by us so that we get an idea about their culture, but on the other hand we must not lose our individuality.

I dnt think so foreign culture destroying our culture. We are blaming others for our mistakes. We all Indians are responsible for destroying our cultures not others. Just 1 eg here suppose if you do good, do hard work for getting success in your work. You will get the best result, its not your neighbor who is getting success. Similarly if you do bad things its affect you not others or others do wrong thing it will affect them not you. So my point is that we should not blame others for our fault.

We are letting ourself to choose the best one whether it is bad good. We can't blame others for our choice. Its up to you what do you want.

I agree that they are accepting western culture its not bad also because if you see number of foreign channels provide good knowledge and information about the new technologies. Nowadays english language become the king of the world. Everywhere we use this lang for eg in corporate world, school, business etc. Without this we can not think ahead if you want to get success in your life in this modern world. Elders suggest us to see english channel to improve language.

Some of the channels are not good so don't prefer it. Its human nature to accept bad thing very easily. So guys at last I want to say that dnt blame others for destroying our culture.

Foreign television channels are not destroying our culture it used for creating things and history of apes and wild life etc.
