Hello friends, as we all known there are always a different types of people live in this society, some are good and some are bad. What I think is that there are people who works for the betterment of others who knows what that felling of satisfaction is by helping others, that type of people will only work for betterment of others and and for the society and at the same time there are people who work for ngos to get name and fame. People like those should understand that how can they do such a hineous act. God has made them human beings and it is not at all a sign of human qualities.
But the fact is, there are millions of ngos in the world if they would have worked for the welfare of people then belive me my dear frnds there would not have been so much poverty and illness prevailing in the society. There are people who are taking advantage of ngos but at the same time there are certain people who have not forgotten that they are human beings and they are working for the betterment of people and society.

NGOs work but mass requires mass. The poor in our country are endless NGOs are hand full, on the other hand money in our country is endless but hands for giving are hand full... Very sad.

Hello! this is sujoy. By functional defination, a NGO is conserned with the provision of relief to poor, medical and education - an organisation which is operating without seeking any profit. They obtain sizable amount of donations from different parts of society in exchange of promise to utilise them for above stated purpose. Realising this noble work executed by the NGO, Govt grant them relief from any taxation libility. But the actual picture is completely different in the sense that some persons utilise this as a umbrella to escape from the taxation liability. How this is possible ? say, Mr. X, being promoter of NGO, received his personal income in the name of NGO and utilise them for own benefit by way of showing this as expenses incurred for general/common benefit. This mechanisim will get him escape from tax obligation.
So, in most of the cases, persons, strongly related with NGO are benefited at the cost of society's welfare.

Friends I believe NGO works for poor. When you pour any liquid from the hight to any utensil, its not necessary that all liquid go into that utensil, some material will go outside of it as well. For those region who are not aware about the development happening in the world, who don't carry some basic skills, or not aware about the skills they have or not getting the opportunity to encash their skills, I think NGOs are providing good platform to them.

As already explained by many above, basically a NGO takes financial help from society so as to use them to help the needy people fight poverty, illiteracy etc. In return government exempt them from taxes. I personally know my college friends who are running a NGO to educate hapeless children. They started it with the help of college friends and as days passed by they are working on a huge scale and doing very well for the betterment of poor children in Karnatak & Jharkhand. Super 30 batch being run by Ex-IPS officer in Bihar is also a kind of NGO teaching poor children for IIT-entrance.
On the basis of above two examples I can say that there are some NGOs in India which are doing justice to their motto and actually helping the needy ones.

My wife works for a NGO known as Guru Sewa Sansthan in Gurgaon part of NCR. There are over 200 children coming to this school run by NGO daily. The NGO has been started by one gentleman who retired as chief engineer from govt services. He is 70 years old and still takes pain in ensuring that needful is done all these children. The school has been running for over many years and it could get around 150 children admitted in to some of the better private schools under 25% quota for poors.
Appreciate that there are good persons who are continuing their good work despite the good and bad comments and no or little assistance. I also wish to take up such assignment once I have done with my professional career but wish to do this in some rural area.

NGOs are generaly meant for working for welfare of society to gave qualitative food, cloth and education. It is ok. In any thing "like a coin has two faces" there will be good and bad. So, this ngos also are running by good and bad people. But when we see in practical in India nearly 40, 000 ngos are there which getting donations in crores from people, if they spend this ammount really for welfare of society therre wiil be no more poor people and illiterates but in practical there is poor development in society of our country besides govnmt effort apart ngos effort (nearly 40, 000. It means most of ngos are running by bad people. It should not not be good for country.

I think there are some good points about ngo's in India as well as some bad points. The ngo's are providing basic amenities to the children like good primary education, removing the malnutrition among the children etc. For youth it is providing the job opportunities, it also providing awareness among people about various diseases especially among rural areas, giving support of education, shelter, food to the orphan and semi-orphan people, providing free blood to the person needing blood.
On the other hand as the ngo's are more than 5 million in India but still we are the poorest country in the word because there are people who are showing their selfish attitude towards getting more money, corruption is also another factor in the failure of large no. Of organisation.
