What I believe advertisement is not a wasteful resource. See excess of everything is always not up to the mark. But on the contrary, nowadays advertisement is very important not only for gaining goodwill or making the product popular but also advertising help or educate the customers regarding the information of products and also tell the reasons that why they are choosing a product instead of another product of the same line.
So, the advertisement is not a wasteful resource. In fact it is a very creative activity which enhances excitement for both buyers and sellers in the market world.

What I believe is that from the company side view it is always profitable but from the customer side view it depends what types of advertisement it is whether it is informative one or the object to lure the customers, forcing them to buy the things make them think that they need them even not they actually any requirement of such thing.
For example,
Consider a person went to the market for vacuum cleaner he bought it after few days he again went to market he found the same product with a huge discount even he don't need it he bought it again in a taught that in future there may be need of it.

My counter argument for everybody saying that Advertisement is not a waste because of people being informed about products.
Firstly, advertisement only benefits those who are being paid. The business. Never the consumer.
You are only being encouraged to purchase items you think you 'need, want or desire' - marketers study how to fulfil those needs, sometimes even how to create those desires subliminally.
Quite frankly, it is stupid to believe you ever really need something, unless its a physiological / safety need such as food, water, warmth, and rest.
Anything that doesn't fall under that list is quite clearly a need of belongingness, esteem or self-actualisation. The products and brands you buy into simply build your 'identity' you are trying to build.
Capitalism means consumerism and the marketing industry simply manipulates you to consume more and more.

The advertisement is and isn't a waste of resources.
A huge waste of resources is the traditional methods of promotion such as leafleting and other hand-outs that use paper. As a student, my house receives menus and other leaflets daily, and never once have I used one.
If you really understand your consumer, you would understand what channels they engage with and what influences them. i.e. - Social media, using digital methods of advertisement saves a lot of paper, and can also be low cost when using Brand ambassadors to promote products such as clothing.
There isn't really much more I need to explain, save paper by not printing thousands of useless and ignored advertisements. Be smart and research how you can influence your consumer! if they are gen z/x or millenials - social media / online is 100% the best method you can utilise.

Advertisements are not the waste of resources. To survive in a market company has to do marketing so that consumers should not forget their products. Like we can see in rural areas people will ask for Colgate instead of toothpaste, lifebuoy instead of bathing soap, Maggie instead of noodles so just because they have very strong marketing strategies that's why they are performing so well in the market. So the company has to do advertisements of their so that people will have a variety of products from same domain from which they can easily choose one product as per their requirements by analysing their product quality, quantity and very important their price value.

According to me, advertising is not a waste of resources. As advertising provides various option to select which product is good among the market. It's a 50/50 concept 50% true and 50% lie though without advertisement a manufacturing company cannot convey its products to the market.

Hi dears.
Advertisement is waste of resources. It is totally a business policy. COMPANIES use more money on advertisement and they recover it by adding it over the price of product. If companies don't show the add that they can sell their product in cheaper price. People aware about the product and they can, but they can know with other sources also. Due to negative things advertised by celebrities, like Blenders pride, mc dwells no 1, royal stag. All are alcohol and the followers of those celebrities may attract to those things.

Hi Guys,
Guys I'm not going to open any new thing about this interesting topic but yes trying to give something useful light for us.
Advertising is all over gaining knowledge about the things because we get aware of the things with the help of advertisements. Advertisement gives us a specific face of the thing so that we can recognize easily for buying or applying things in our life as we sometimes get confused that which one we use or apply and then we call the add and buy or use the same one because a proper add gives proper knowledge along with great feelings in within.
We all the people always want to buy something but in absence of proper knowledge we get nervous that how to perform in this situation and sometimes we try to pack up from that unaware situation, you are new because you are away from add or there is no add for that one and in result you have kneeled yourselves.
So being a hero be a part of gaining knowledge from the adds so that you may handle the situation well.
So, I can't say that advertising is a waste of resources where it one of the best way for growth.
Thanks.

Advertising is being followed and will be continued till life end's. In today's world it's the real face of business, but today's world looks more digitalised than it was earlier so if it goes the modern way it's coool, or its going foool.

According to me,
First, the government should either approve if the products are good for the consumer or not. And people say Maggie is bad for health and it was also banned in India but still now also everyone is eating it. Government approves products like the example above because the reason is they get more PROFIT. SO I CONCLUDE THAT IT IS USEFUL AND USELESS.
