Co-Education means the teaching of both boys and girls in the same school and under the same roof. It also means imparting the same education to both the sexes without any distinction. This system of education aims at bringing boys and girls together. It allows free mixing of sexes without any inhibition.
The great Greek philosopher, Plato had propagated the system of co-education in the ancient times. He believed that co-education will create a feeling of comradeship between boys and girls. Plato was a great supporter of the education of women. Therefore, he wanted them to be educated with men in the same institutions. He felt that if men and women are taught together, it will develop their personality to the maximum. They will not feel any shyness from each other. He advocated that it was the only method in which both could become useful members of the society.

School and college where boys and girls study together are called co-educational. There are many co-educational institutions in our country. There are many arguments for and against co-education. Some are of the view that co-education is desirable at all stages of education, primary, secondary and at collegiate levels. Some are totally desirable at primary and collegiate levels and not at the secondary school level.

The problem is linked with the aims and objectives set to be achieved at different levels of education and also with the roles the boys and girls have to play in a society later in their lives. However, it is agreed that at the primary stage of education it is desirable to have co-education. At this stage boys and girls are innocent. They like to play together, live together and learn together.
The problem arises only at the secondary school level including +2 level. The boys and girls then enter the period of adolescence. Between the ages of 12 and 18 years, their rapid progress in physical growth. Their emotional changes too.
Boys prefer to join a group of boys of their age. Girls prefer to move in their peer groups. Girls would like to attract the attention of boys and vice-versa. It is during the period that boys and girls prepare themselves to play their future roles as men and women.
It is, therefore, necessary that girls and boys develop their aptitudes, interests and skill to play their future roles usefully and satisfactorily. Hence a separate curriculum is required at the secondary level to cater to the needs of girls and boys. Some argue that at the secondary stage of education, there shall be separate schools for boys and girls.
By the time the boys and girls reach the college, they cross the age of adolescence and are grown enough to realize their own responsibilities and known the consequences of their acts and deeds. Hence co-education is not harmful at the collegiate level.
Some argue that co-education leads to indiscipline. This view cannot be supported. Discipline implies observing the norms of conduct, approved by society. If society fails in its own norms it may affected the students as well. Some argue that the cinema, the TV. And the western culture are creating problems of discipline. As our social fabric is still strong, boys and girls at the secondary school level do not often indulge in acts of serious indiscipline.
Even if it is desirable to have separate schools at the secondary level of education for boys and girls, a poor country like India cannot afford that. So co-education has to continue in our country at all stages of education. The only easy remedy we can think of is to appoint more lady teachers in schools which would help the cause of co-education.

Co-education is better for the education because if both the genders boys and girls are studying together they can share their knowledge. Students won't feel shy between each genders they can perform any thing freely in our olden days also a Greek philosopher called plato has discovered the Co education system this method is continuing present also. Co education systems are result of no difference and parshality between boys and girls. Both the genders are treated equally in front of every one.

Advantages of Co-Education.
There are many advantages and hardly any disadvantages in the co-educational system of education. The first advantage is that if boys and girls are taught together, there will not be any need for opening separate schools for boys and girls. Co-education is an economical system, because both boys and girls can study in same schools and they can be taught by the same staff.
Secondly, boys and girls have to live together in the society in their later lives and if they are taught together from the very beginning, they can understand each other well. The girls will not feel shy in the presence of boys. The boys will also not tease the girls.
Again if they are taught together, it will create a sense of healthy competition among them. In this manner, they will work hard and pay serious attention to their studies. A feeling of comradeship will also develop between the boys and girls. The boys will not indulge in in eve-teasing and the girls will bot be afraid of boys. Thus they will have a balanced development of their personality.
It is also a common experience that the boys behave decently in the company of girls. They do not use rough and abusive language in the presence of girls. They also dress properly and talk mannerly. Similarly, the girls will also lose their fear of the boys if they are taught with them. On the other hand if boys and girls are taught in separate schools, boys misbehave with the girls. They boys always have a curiosity to know about them. But when they study together, their curiosity is satisfied and they do not consider girls as strange creatures.
Thus if co-education is introduced, there will be no problem of discipline among the students. In the western countries, there is no separation between boys and girls in the schools.
Dis-advantages of Co-Education.
Of course certain conservative people criticize the system of co-education. According to them, this system is against our tradition. They also fear that co-education will develop immoral relationships between boys and girls. They believe that in this system both the boys and girls will be spoilt. But these arguments do not hold much water.
The fact is that there are so many advantages of co-education when boys and girls have to live later on as husband and wife, there is no need of separating them in schools. Rather it will give them the opportunity to come close to each other and understand each other fully. We should not believe in the morality of the medieval ages. The world is changing fast today and women are being given an equal status with men in the society. Let us, therefore accept the changing order and open more and more co-educational institutions in future and say good bye to separate institutions.

In my point of view, Co-education is the best system of education, because girls are not feel shy in the front of boys and boys are not behaves so roughly in the front of girls. So what I am trying to saying is Co-education system gives confidence and well-behaving nature to students. By the co-education system student get a way to treat their opposite gender.
By the Co-education girls and boys can enhance their knowledge by communicating to each other. Co-education is such a better way where students can increasing communication skills.

Hi guys.
In my observation, co-education is the better option to increase our education in front of apposite gender and it also remove our heritage and co education teaches us how can we behave with apposite gender and by the co education both of girls and boys can enhance their knowledge by communication to each other.
At I would like to say that I am favour of co education that is good option to improve our thinks and remove heritage or shy in front of apposite gender.

According to my point of view, sometimes co-education is not suitable for the students. Because in the environment of co education. Opposite genders can feel shy n hesitated. They can't express their feelings. They can't perform very well.
So I think co-education is not better than separate education.
I hope you like it.
Thank you.
