Latitudes and longitudes are imaginary lines are drawn around the world. Latitude are the horizontal line and longitude are the vertical lines.

Main latitude is equator. Main longitude is Greenwich line.

Geographical grids I do agree because it is general thus if we say latitudes all alone, they are not intersecting as well as the longitudes.
