Sound produced at a point is heard by a person after 5 second, while the same sound is heard by another person after 6 seconds. If the speed of sound is 300 m/s, what could be the maximum and minimum distances between the two persons?
1.8 km, 0.15 km
2.2 km, 0.20 km
2.8 km, 0.25 km

Distance of first person from the object: 300*5 = 1500 m=1.5km
Distance of second person from the object: 300*6 = 1800 m=1.8km

Max distance will be 1.5+1.8 =3.3 km (both are in opposit directions)

Min. distance will be 1.8-1.5 = 0.30 km (both are in same direction)

Maximum distance = speed * time
= 300 * (6+5)
= 300 * 11
= 3300 m
= 3.3 km
Minimum distance = speed * time
= 300 * (6-5)
= 300 * 1
= 300 m
= 0.3 km

DISTANCE = SPEED * TIME TAKEN
d1=300*5=1500
d2=300*6=1800
maximum distance=d1+d2
=1500+1800
=3300 metres=3.3km
minimum distance=d2-d1
=1800-1500
=300 metres=0.3km

Use the formula DISTANCE = SPEED * TIME TAKEN.

For MAX add both & for MIN sub both.

Time difference of 2 persons is 1sec, it means distance between them is 300 m which is 3.3km, so option D is correct.
