A device that measures air pressure and shows when the weather is likely to change.

If the reading is going down very fast then its an indication of storm (within 5-6 hours) otherwise a slow downfall of reading suggests a low pressure area is passing in a nearby region, it may rains.

Barometer is a pressure measuring device.

Barometer reading downfall causes depression or low pressure rain and sudden fall of reading causes strom.

Barometer mainly used to measure the pressure. If its readings goes down it shows rainfall.

It should be storm rain should not link with pressure.

May it could be explained in terms of vapour pressure. Since it is used for measuring atmospheric pressure, intense heat would increase pressure (more evaporation thus increasing vapour pressure), rainfall (condensation i.e, conversion of vapour to water) will reduce vapour pressure, consequently, decrease in atmospheric pressure.
