In dentistry, amalgam is an alloy of mercury with various metals used for dental fillings.

Silver (~22-32% ),
Tin (~14%),
Copper (~8%),
And other trace metals.

Amalgam is an alloy which always contains mercury as it's constituent. It is the mixture of metals which will always have one of it as Hg. Ex: ZnHg

An amalgam is an alloy of mercury with another metal. It may be a liquid, a soft paste or a solid, depending upon the proportion of mercury.
