The elements in the periodic table are often divided into four categories:
1. Main group elements.
2. Transition metals.
3. Lanthanides.
4. Actinides.
The main group elements include the active metals in the two columns on the extreme left of the periodic table and the metals, semi metals, and nonmetals in the six columns on the far right.
The transition metals are the metallic elements that serve as a bridge, or transition, between the two sides of the table.

Any of the set of metallic elements occupying a central block (Groups IVB"VIII, IB, and IIB, or 4"12) in the periodic table, eg: Iron, manganese, chromium, and copper.
Chemically, they show variable valency and a strong tendency to form coordination compounds, and many of their compounds are coloured.

As we go from left to right in a periodic table we can see a transition of metals to non metals and these group elements lie on the boundary of metals and non metals. Thus they are called transition elements.

If you see in the periodic table ,they will occur in periods between 3 to 11.They are transition elements because their ultimate as well as pen-ultimate shell is incomplete.

Fe, Ni, Co, because there are 3rd orbit, empty due to they are Donner long pair of the electron so it's also called transitional element

According to the modern periodic table given by Henry Moseley the elements Fe, Co and Ni are given position in the transitional zone.

They are not transition metals they are just d-block elements till CU AG AU only they are called as transition metals.

These elements are iron, cobalt, and nickel, and they are the only elements known to produce a magnetic field.

Yes, group-d elements have incomplete or half filled d-orbitals. So they are called transition metals.

Ni, Fe, Co are ferromagnetic substances, which are included under d-block or transition elements.
