Right answer is diamond becousedue to the strong bonding of the carbon elements held together All metals are hard, and so all not metals are soft - obviously the characteristics of all metals and non metals are opposite to each other. Since diamond is hard, we cannot say that it is a metal. It is an exceptional case in non metals. DiDiamonds are considered to b the hardest substance on earth, diamonds are brilliant & bright. The speed of light in a vacuum is 186, 000miles per second but light slows down a little when passing through a matter. Diamonds also bends and reflect light and break it up into the colours of the rainbow, which is what gives them their sparkle!amond is a hard " non - metal ".

Yes, wurtzite boron nitride (w-BN) is indeed harder than diamond under certain conditions. When subjected to high pressures, wurtzite boron nitride can exceed the hardness of diamonds by about 18%. This increased hardness is due to a unique atomic bond rearrangement that occurs under stress.
However, it’s important to note that this extreme hardness is not permanent and is observed only under specific conditions.
Another material, lonsdaleite (hexagonal diamond) , has also been found to be harder than both diamond and wurtzite boron nitride.

Option D is the correct answer.
First of all, someone said diamonds can only be cut by diamonds. That's completely wrong. Platinum-osmium alloy tools are actually used to cut diamonds (diamond dust is also used but as abrasive to polish the diamonds' surfaces). The problem with using a diamond to cut another is that you would end up with two shattered diamonds.

Diamond is the hardest natural material known, where hardness is defined as resistance to scratching and is graded between 1 (softest) and 10 (hardest) using the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Diamond has a hardness of 10 (hardest) on this scale. Diamond's hardness has been known since antiquity, and is the source of its name.

It is the solid or crystal form of carbon. It is change due to high temperature and pressure under earth with this continuous process it is change into Diamond. It is the most hardest substance in the world. Diamond is found in earth in black form but after a lot of sharpening process it is seen in a shining form.

Diamond is currently thought to be the hardest natural material on Earth, having a hardness of ten out of ten on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
Diamond is made up of carbon atoms which share strong covalent bonds (where electrons are shared between atoms) and is equally spaced in a lattice arrangement.

Hardness is property of material which resist to abbration. It is decided by scratching a lower hard material with help of a more hard material.hardness is measured on the Moh's scale. On Moh's scale Diamond has highest value which is equal to 10 & talc has lowest hardness value that is 1(one).

The diamond crystal is made up of carbon atoms which are powerfully bonded to one another by a network of covalent bonds. Due to this diamond structure is very rigid and due to this it is very hard substance and therefore used in drilling oil wells and making glass cutters.
