Oxy-fuel welding (commonly called oxyacetylene welding, oxy welding, or gas welding in the U.S.) and oxy-fuel cutting are processes that use fuel gases and oxygen to weld and cut metals, respectively. French engineers Edmond Fouché and Charles Picard became the first to develop oxygen-acetylene welding in 1903. Pure oxygen, instead of air (20% oxygen/80% nitrogen), is used to increase the flame temperature to allow localized melting of the workpiece material (e.g. steel) in a room environment. A common propane/air flame burns at about 3,630 °F (2,000 °C), a propane/oxygen flame burns at about 4,530 °F (2,500 °C), and an acetylene/oxygen flame burns at about 6,330 °F (3,500 °C).

A weld is done so it stays welded and intact without undergoing oxidation, leading to failure. Therefore a protective coating of inert gas (which is usually CO2 or Argon) is used, INEVITABLY, or else the welding is either underwater or in a vacuum. Hence, I Believe [C] should be the right answer.

ALSO, HYDROGEN gas is used in atomic hydrogen welding for shielding the weld zone. Hence protecting the welded part from oxidation or contamination.
H2, C2H2+O2, ARGON (MIG WELDING).
Best resembling option will be option C.

Depending on the type of welding, Oxygen can be used in combination with a gaseous fuel (acetylene or hydrogen). Argon is used as the shielding gas, which helps to protect the weld from any external interference.

It is D, because other than oxygen and acetylene, LPG, hydrogen also use in gas welding and argon and nitrogen also use in TIG, MIG welding because inert gas acts as sealing medium which prevents oxidation.

In welding process we will use three methods.
1. Thermal welding.
2. Electric arc welding.
3. Gas welding.
In gas welding the most widely used method is OXY-ACETYLENE welding.

Because oxygen react with acetyle and form oxyacetylence gas which help in welding and also form different type of flames which is at very high temperature.

According to me,
Argon is inert gas therefore if the O and acetylene will react then it will more producing temperature. Hence, the answer would D.

After reaction between 02 and C2H2 the Oxyacetyline flame is produced.Which can produced the temperature approx 2500-3000 degree.

Carbon dioxide, Argon and helium gases are also used in welding. They act as shielding gases and prevent oxidation of the molten pool.
