Graphite has layered structures of layers which are linked by van der Waal forces. Graphite cleans easily between the layers and therefore, it is very soft and slippery. For this reason, it is used in pencil and as lubricants in machines running at high temperature.

Yes. Graphite is a form of carbon. It forms a network covalent solid, which causes layers of C atoms on top of each other. This allows the layers of carbon to slip over each other and gives pencils the ability to write. Hence graphite is used in pencils.

Graphite is an allotrope of carbon and hence a non-metal. But still, it conducts heat & electricity due to its structure.
It is used as lubricants (substances reducing friction) and made it easy to write.
This is why it is used for pencils.

In pencils the graphite is mixed with clay to change the hardness of the Lead. This accounts for its low hardness. This is because the layers can slide over each other easily. In fact the lead in pencil is not pure.

Graphite is non metallic substance which is black in colour though it's a good conductor of electricity, pencil and graphite have d same characteristic, their colour and ability to conduct electricity.

Pencil manufacturing. The top sequence shows the old method that required pieces of graphite to be cut to size; the lower sequence is the new, current method using rods of graphite and clay.

We write by the pencil on paper then pencil slide on paper than we write any sentence. It mains we need a sliding metal. Graphite is a sliding metal. So graphite is use in pencil.

Graphite because it is allotropes of carbon, black and soft and NON-METAL and both have same features and slippery in nature so this way GRAPHITE is use for making pencil.

In old days our ancestors used a type of stone (graphite) to write with and by the help of it they could write anywhere easily. In nowadays it is modalised in the pencil.

The graphite can easily cut an ice in half without giving any push and the tip so pencil can also do that without giving push. Try it with a pencil.
