When you used 1 kg then that time we said Molality.
Whenever you said 1 L then you said Molarity.
When you used 1 kg then that time we said Molality.

1kg is equivalent to 1litre. 1kg means 1000g and 1litre also the same mean 1000g but kg use for solid things and litre for liquid things.

Actually, Molarity(M) is defined as the no of moles of solute per 1 lit solvent and the Molality(m) is defined as the no of moles of solute per 1 kg solvent.
