Because H+ is not stable. Therefore water react with itself and produce a stable form known as H3o+.

Hydrogen ion is H+ because always hydrogen has only one electron in the outermost shell so and it contain no neutron, the hydrogen ion must be one.

As H3O is a positive ion and H2O is also a positive ion, they interchange 1o2 and 2h2, hence new molecule of hydronium ion is formed.

What is the difference between hydronium ion and hydroxonium ion?

H3O+ should be hydroxonium ion.
