Vitamin A is the precursor of the rhodopsin which is the main vital for converting photon into electrical signal and is main constituent of rod cells of retina whis is responsible for low intensity light detection or night-vision. So deficiency of Vit A causes night-blindness.

I don't seem to get it clear.

Is it that lack of vitamin A cause night blindness or vitaminA itself cause night blindness?

I want to be clear on that, please.

The night blindness is caused due to the deficiency of Vitamin A. The deficiency of vitamin A causes a nutritional deficiency disease which is called as "NYCTOLOPIA", which is responsible for the night blindess.
