It means 'short sightedness'. In a myophic eye, the image of the object is formed in front of the retina & not on the retina.

The focal length of the eyes of some people are very small. As a result, the image of the object is not formed at the retina but at a point in front of the retina. In other words, these people can't see far away objects clearly. This defect of vision is called myopia.
