Just take an example of pulling a bucket of water from a well. It requires considerably less effort to draw the water from the well using a pulley which acts as a roller.

Frictional force of the sliding more than the rolling because surface area of sliding body more than the rolling body.

Example: If we throw a bangle on a flour which has slight rough surface.

The bangle moves for some time. If we throw a bolt on the surface of the flour, then the bolt does not move so far comparing to the bangle, because it has flat surfaces.

Friction is the force resisting the relative motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers, and material elements sliding against each other.

There are several types of friction: Dry friction resists relative lateral motion of two solid surfaces in contact.

Can any one tell me what friction mean?

Rolling has point contact between the two actual condition of the motion points.

Sliding has one direction but rolling has many direction to take flow.

Since rolling friction is smaller than sliding friction, it helps reduce the amount of friction between two surfaces in contact.

This is because more of the body comes in contact with the surface than when rolling. Therefore while sliding friction is increased.

Sliding has an one direction for flow but rolling has many direction to take flow, so opposing force will be reduced.

Dynamic friction:- friction offered by the body when it is moving.

Static friction:- friction offered by the body when it is in steady.

When the body is moving as compared to steady state it offers less friction than the steady state.

Therefore D is not the answer.

And in other C option when potential energy is converted into kinetic energy experience certain friction on the surface.

Both C and D both are not correct answer.
