17.

The gusset plate G of a bridge joint is subjected to the two member forces at A and B. If the force at B is horizontal and the force at A is directed at = 30°, determine the magnitude and direction of the resultant force.

R = 458 N, = 97.5° CCW
R = 252 N, = 82.5° CCW
R = 252 N, = 97.5° CCW

tan^-1(250/-33.0127).
= -82.4776 or -82.5 (since it is negative you have to subtract it from 180) 180-82.5.
= 97.5° CCW.

Option B is correct.

The angle should be 82.5 as angle of resultant is given by tanA=Rx/Ry. Where A is angle of resultant.

Angle take always from positive x-direction So C is right. 180 - 82.5.

R = 252.17N.

Fx = 33.01N So,

X = 1/cos(Fx/R).

= 82.5 degree. This is the correct answers. so answer is B.

Angle are same. Hence its c option is correct.

The ange is not correct in the C. The angle should be 82.5. Hence its B option is correct.
