The outermost orbit of the atom are valence orbit.
For semiconductor 4 valence electrons are there.

The outermost orbit of an atom is called as valence shell.
The number of valence electrons present in a valence shell is based on its capacity.
For example: take silicon a semiconductor, which has 4 valance electrons.
