Because V=IR, voltage is directly proportional to current & resistance.
So if current is half, voltage also half (i=v/r).

Current and Voltage have a proportional relationship. If one goes up or down in a circuit, the other goes up or down as well.
Current and Resistance have an inverse relationship. If one of these goes up, the other goes down, and vice versa.
