When testing an n-channel D-MOSFET, resistance G to D = , resistance G to S = , resistance D to SS = and 500 , depending on the polarity of the ohmmeter, and resistance D to S = 500 . What is wrong?
short D to S
open G to D
open D to SS

Since it is a D-MOSFET, the device is somewhat "Normally ON" since the thing we're doing with it is depleting the channel which somewhat turns it "OFF".

G to S and G to D must be infinite due to the dielectric separating them.

Drain to SS (or substrate) must be infinite or medium resistance in opposite direction due since the Drain and SS are always opposite in polarity (material composition).

D to S is also medium resistance since it is both same material composition and the main contributing factor in its resistance are the sheet resistance, width and length of the channel.

Therefore all the parameters are close to correct and therefore nothing is wrong.

Drain to Source should have a lower value of resistance in order for current to flow through it.

Drain and source are not shorted, there is a current source (500 ohm) between source and drain.

What is D to SS. Is it a source? Please explain.

Please tell me about that briefly.

I think SS is Substrate.
