Finally correct answer is transistor has 3 regions of operation like cut off, active, saturation.

---------------- > JBE --- JCB --- Application
Saturation = FB --- FB. --- On switch.
Cut off = RB --- RB. --- Off switch.
Forward Active = FB --- RB --- Amplifier.
Reverse active = RB --- FB --- Atinuater.

There are 4 regions of operation of a bipolar junction transistor.

In an NPN BJT, the regions are defined as follow:

1. Forward active: VBE >= VBEon, VCE >= VBE.
2. Saturation: VBE >= VBEon, VCE < VBE.
3. Cutoff: VBE < VBEon, VCE >= VBE.
4. Reverse active: VBE < VBEon, VCE < VBE.

BJT has 4 mode or region of operation.

1) Active = used as amplifier.
2) Saturation = switch (ON).
3) Cut -ff= switch (OFF).
4) Invert mode = NOT IN USE.
