Why, two. It has three regios of operation:active, saturation and cut off regions.

Why not 3 region of oparation?

Active, cutt-off, saturation totally 3 regions.

Active, cut-off, saturation and inversion ....it should be 4...why is it 2 ?

Ajeet is right. There are 4 regions of operations.
Active,Cut-off,Saturation and inversion.
Active,Cut-off,Saturation and inversion.

Inversion region is a cutoff region. If input is high (5v) output equals zero. The output is inverted and operated in cutoff region.

2 region of working.
b/a in active region its work as an amplifier
in saturation region it work as short circuit
but in cut of its does not work like open circuit.
That's why its only work in 2-region active & saturation region.

All of above and below are wrong transistor has only 2 region of working.
As switch in cut-off and saturation.
As amplifier in active region.

As amplifier in active region.

There are three regions of operations not two and four inversion makes use of cut off region.

Hey @Ajay they asked regions in cut off it is used as open switch and in saturation it is used as closed switch and in active region used as amplifier. In cutoff and saturation it is used as two type of switches so it should be divided into two regions.
