Not understand.
If 2 is neglected why not output resistance 1?

Rth=1+2//Rth.
=1+(2*Rth/2+Rth)
=(2+Rth+2Rth)/(2+Rth)
Rth(2+Rth)=2+3Rth
Rth^2-Rth-2=0
R=2.
V/R=18/2=9A.
=1+(2*Rth/2+Rth)
=(2+Rth+2Rth)/(2+Rth)
Rth(2+Rth)=2+3Rth
Rth^2-Rth-2=0
R=2.
V/R=18/2=9A.

2 ohm resistance across open circuit terminal. It will neglected then [1 + {2|| (1 + 1)}].

R = R1/2 + sqrt((R1*R1/4) + R1*R2).
