Driving point function: the ratio of voltage or current in the same port.

Eg : v1/i1, I1/V1, V2/I2 etc.

Transfer function: the ratio of voltage or current in a different port.

Eg: V1/V2, V1/I2 etc.

Since, the stability of the system depends on complete system response i.e. calculated from the transfer function. So it is must condition for driving point function pole and zero be zero or negative as we may utilize both pole and zero of driving point to calculate the complete transfer function on which later we will find the stability.

What is mean by driving point function?

If poles or zeros are zero it lies on an imaginary axis. How it becomes stable?

I think for stability we only concern with pole location.
