Underdamped-------------- (R/2L)^2 < 1/LC.
critical damped------------- (R/2L)^2 = 1/LC.
overdamped--------------- (R/2L)^2 > 1/LC.
To make underdamped to overdamped for RLC series circuit the value of R should be increased.
critical damped------------- (R/2L)^2 = 1/LC.
overdamped--------------- (R/2L)^2 > 1/LC.
To make underdamped to overdamped for RLC series circuit the value of R should be increased.

For series Q = 1/R √L/C.
And, DAMPING RATIO IS REVERSE OF 2Q from there you can see that to decrease the damping ratio you have to increase and decrease respectively.

It may be like this;
(R/2)^2<L/C.
(R/2)^2=L/C.
(R/2)^2>L/C.
(R/2)^2<L/C.
(R/2)^2=L/C.
(R/2)^2>L/C.

Underdamped in this damping ratio is between 0 and 1. Over damped damping ratio is greater than 1. Critically damped damping ratio is 1.
