Generally data is present in memory. TO execute any operation data the data must be transferred to the micro processor and to save data after executing it transferred from microprocessor to memory. IF we are using any I/O devices like keyboard display here data come from input device keyboard into microprocessor similarly to display data.

Transfer the data from the microprocessor to output display devices. So always data transfer takes place microprocessor & memory OR microprocessor & I/O devices. In some applications it is necessary to data transfer between memory & I/O devices.
