Instruction cycle:- It is the time required to fetch,decode and execute the instruction. Maximum 5 m/c cycles are used in an instruction.

Instruction cycle=Fetch cycle + Execute cycle or IC=FC+EC.

The Instruction Cycle is the time required by the microprocessor to execute or complete one instruction is called instruction cycle. INSTRUCTION CYCLE is nothing but a (fetch cycle+execute cycle).

Fetch cycle - Fetching the requested address from the memory to the processor.

Execute cycle - this involves the execution of the fetched instruction by the processor.
