Rheostat is a variable resistor. It has three terminals. 2 fixed terminals and one variable terminal to vary the resistance. It can be kept in either cut in or cut out position. If kept in cut out position it offers zero resistance. When kept in cut in position it provides the full resistance. The cut in nd cut out position is kept using the third terminal. Kindly see the pic of a rheostant you ll understand better.

Look, solar system converts solar energy to electric energy and generator converts mechanical energy to electric energy and battery is already a energy source because its have a power to store energy.

And Rheostat gives variable resistances. There is not any energy source in it. Its received electric source and give the o/p of resistances.

Rheostat is the variable resistance i.e. we can vary the value of resistor using rheostat. Whereas all the other things are energy sources i.e. they generate power through many sources.

Generator = Mechanical Energy to Electrical Energy,
Solar cell = Light energy to Electrical Energy,
battey = Chemical enrgy to Electrical Energy.
Rheostat = Variable resistance

Three other options which are generator, solar cell, battery generate electricity but rheostat not giving any electricity. Rheostat is a variable resistance.

Solar cell converts solar energy into electrical, generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy and battery stores energy.

Rheostat is not energy source it will be used only increase are decrease the given voltage value in lab experiments.

Rheostat is a variable resistor that can be adjusted to control the electrical current flowing through electricity.

Rheostat is variable resistance in which more then insulator properties and use only decrease energy or voltage.

I can change the resistance by Rheostat but not from the others.

Because they are use to get energy.
