Current is always going close path only.

When circuit is open current not flow, because its not have any path to flow;and when switch is closed the path is created that's why current flows.

When circuit is closed current passing through the circuit. Without any voltage source no current flows through the circuit.

When circuit is open current does not flow, When switch is closed in any circuit it acts as a closed circuit so current flows only in a closed circuit.
