If it is known that at least 23 students were eligible for a Symposium on Chemistry, then the minimum qualifying marks in Chemistry for eligibility to Symposium would lie in the range?
40-45
30-40
20-30
Below 20
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Since 66 students get 20 and above marks in Chemistry and out of these 21 students get 30 and above marks, therefore to select top 35 students in Chemistry, the qualifying marks should lie in the range 20-30.

Correct answer is between 30-40 because there are 25 student in the range. In question it requires only 23 student.

It just mentioned 23 required, but which range is not mentioned. So, many ways we can get!

@all

Above 20 there are 66 people
Above 30 there are 21 people

So people between 20-30 would be 66-21 = 45 people

Option C is correct , no doubt in that.

Exactly at least 23 students are in the range 20-30,

Because. Range 40& above has = 4 students.

Range 30 & above has = 21-4= 17 students.

30-40 range has 21 students & the required is more than that its 23 students, that's why it has 2b the 20-30 range where more students can b eligible (minimum qualifying marks).

No.of the 4 students in range (40 & above) is included in the 21 students in the (30 & above range).

Option c is correct because the 21 students above 30 also includes 4 students who are above 40. So the total is 21 how can we get 23 so we have to go for above 20 marks where 66 includes this 21 and 4 students in the upper range.
