If at least 60% marks in Physics are required for pursuing higher studies in Physics, how many students will be eligible to pursue higher studies in Physics?
27
32
34
41
Answer: Option
Explanation:

We have 60% of 50 = ( 60 x 50 ) = 30.

32 is right answer because it ask at least 30 n above here 30 is also included in 40 and above 30 not included.

Can anybody explain to me how we got 32, 60 can come under 40 so why we took 30?

Pursing said:   9 years ago
We required only 30 and above so we minus 9 (that is above 40 in physics) from 32 (that is above 30 in physics) we got 23.
Then 23 + 27 = 50. Therefore, 60% of 50 is 30. Above 30, the numbers of students are 32.
So, the answer is 32.

Friends, 32 is correct because look at the chart it is mentioned that "30 and above" i.e. all the students whose marks are between 30 - 50 are already included in it. Had it been 30 - 40 and then 40 - 50 then we should have considered 32 + 9 = 41.

Hope you get it.

(0 - 9)-8; (10 - 19)-12; (20 - 29)-48 - (30 - 39)-23; (40 - 50)-9.

The question says at least 60%, here 60% mark is 30.

30 and above marks column mentioned 23 + 9 = 32 students.

So the answer must be 'option B'.

We should have to calculate the number of students who got 40 and above also. Am I right?

I also agree with 41.

Because at least meant 60 %. Thats mean we should include also 40 and above. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I agree with Rahul Namdev.

It should have been 32 + 9 = 41.

Since it is 30 and above that means even 40 and above students also are supposed to be considered.

30 and above = 32
40 and above = 09
________________
So, total = 41.

I am too confused on this question. When all the categories are defined separately 30 and above includes 30 to 39 and 40 and above includes 40 to 50. So, How can anyone say 40 and above students are included in 30 and above Column?
