1998 Total expenses 495.5.
2002 Total expenses 713.36.

Let's take;

713.36 is 100%.
356.68 is 50%.
71.336 is 10%.
142.67 is 20%.

Add 50%+ 20% both value, we will get 499.35 is 70%.

Then 69 % is Answer.

The table of expenditure is given in point of company's view. So the salary is also the expenditure to the company, in the case of employee the salary is a gain but for the company it expenditure only.

Division with decimal will be critical so try to remove decimal like for example
495.4/713.36*100
=4954000/71336
as we have >60% in option
71336*6=428016
71336*7=499352
Hence answer will be app 69%

Question is all about expense part only and income is included while calculating the same, Why? Nothing to do with the salary, bonus as the question is expense focussed.

shouldn't it be like this?

(salary + bonus - fuel&transport - interest - taxes).

= ((288+3-98-23.4-83) / ( 420+3.96-142-49.4-98) ) *100 = 64.35%.

@Morwin.

See the the question, total is given so we have to add the (salaries + fuel & transport + bonus + interest + taxes) in 1998 & 2002.

Morwin said:   9 years ago
These all are an expenditure of a particular company.

Total of 1998 = 495.4

2002 = 713.36

495.4 / 713.36 * 100

69 something,

Almost 69% answer.
