Here the table is simple with just 5-7 values.
What if the case is to more than 10 values and the range is less than 15 which is usually in exams like cat and in the latest format of cat it is very tough to manage time as we all know that the time limit is just 1.7minutes.
Then how could we waste the time in adding all those 10-15 numbers.
Is there any shortcuts for adding lot many as I mentioned the range.

I don't think, we have a shortcut method to solve this problem,
Is there anyone knows the short cut method to solve this problem, because why do need to do shortcut is for Banking exams we will be having less time, if we spend this time for one question, I don't think we can solve all the problems.

Come on guys..... It's just a problem of finding average...... What's the need for more short cut?...... Any way sagar's answer is more than enough.... Multiplying nr and dr makes it more easy to calculate with eyes.

The method was correct because an average is calculated by summing the column values, and then dividing the sum by the number of values in the column.
The average can be referred to as the Mean Value.

To find the answer for this question is very easy, How?
Just add all the decimals and divide by 5 (23/5 = 4.6).
So find the answer which has last digit 6, it is none other than answer D (36.66).

Add the smallest and largest value and divide with 2. you will get nearest value.
Here it is,
(23.4+49.4)/2 gives 36.4 (nearest value).
Here it is,
(23.4+49.4)/2 gives 36.4 (nearest value).

In the numerator, decimal ending with 3 right, then it is multiple of 5 with 6, so the answer must end with 6, that is the answer.

183.3÷5=36.63,when we divide the numerator by 5, double the numerator and move the decimal to left side.
