Study the following graph carefully and answer the questions given below:
Distribution of candidates who were enrolled for MBA entrance exam and the candidates (out of those enrolled) who passed the exam in different institutes:
2.
Which institute has the highest percentage of candidates passed to the candidates enrolled?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The percentage of candidates passed to candidates enrolled can be determined for each institute as under:
(i) P = | ![]() |
![]() |
18% of 5700 | ![]() |
x 100 | ![]() |
% = | ![]() |
18 x 5700 | x 100 | ![]() |
% = 54.55%. |
22% of 8550 | 22 x 8550 |
(ii) Q = | ![]() |
![]() |
17% of 5700 | ![]() |
x 100 | ![]() |
% | = 75.56%. |
15% of 8550 |
(iii) R = | ![]() |
![]() |
13% of 5700 | ![]() |
x 100 | ![]() |
% | = 86.67%. |
10% of 8550 |
(iv) S = | ![]() |
![]() |
16% of 5700 | ![]() |
x 100 | ![]() |
% | = 62.75%. |
17% of 8550 |
(v) T = | ![]() |
![]() |
9% of 5700 | ![]() |
x 100 | ![]() |
% | = 75%. |
8% of 8550 |
(vi) V = | ![]() |
![]() |
15% of 5700 | ![]() |
x 100 | ![]() |
% | = 83.33%. |
12% of 8550 |
(vii) X = | ![]() |
![]() |
12% of 5700 | ![]() |
x 100 | ![]() |
% | = 50%. |
16% of 8550 |
Highest of these is 86.67% corresponding to institute R.

This problem is time consuming. Is there any trick to solve these problem. ?

If we consider ( (5700/8550) *100) to be constant x, then we have to compare only the ratio of percentages. That could be easy enough !

As simple as.
Passed no. /enrolled no.
1) 18/22 = 0.8181.
2) 17/15 = 1.1333.
3) 13/10 = 1.3.
4) 16/17 = 0.94.
5) 9/8 = 1.125.
6) 15/12 = 1.25.
7) 12/16 = 0.75.
In above example 1.1333 is highest no. So answer will be 2 no.

@Nishad Mullah : But here 1.25 is greater than 1.13.

@Harkesh answer is (3) 1.3. which is right.
@Nishad has the shortest way. I feel there is no way shorter than this. This set was time consuming.

@Nishad Mullah's formula is best.
By mistaken he wrote 1.1333 is highest number. The actual highest no.is 1.3, which is showing in his calculation.
