Directions to Solve

Study the following graph carefully and answer the questions given below:

Distribution of candidates who were enrolled for MBA entrance exam and the candidates (out of those enrolled) who passed the exam in different institutes:

 Required ratio = 18% of 5700 = 18 x 5700 = 6 . 22% of 8550 22 x 8550 11

Here is another way to do it:

2. Add up all ratios given: A, 9+11= 20 B, 14+17= 31 C, 6+11= 17 D, 9+17= 26.

3. Divide 2907 by each whole ratio, in turn then multiply by each number of the ratio. EX. A (9:11)= 2907/20= 104.85.

104.85 X 9= 943.65 WE SHOULD HAVE GOT 1026 IF THIS WAS THE CORRECT RATIO- SO IT IS NOT A.

TRY C (6:11).

2907/17= 171.
171 X 6= 1026.
171 X 11= 1881 Answer C (6:11) is Correct.

Try to look it like this,
114/209 = approx and a little bit more than 0.5 ~ as 5 * 2 = 10 which is nearby 11 of 114. Now check all the answers. Only 6/11 is the near and little bit more than 0.5 ~.

I also came to the answer of 6:11. I took the steps of:

1. 0.18 * 5700 = 1026.

2. 0.22 * 8550 = 1881.

3. 1026/1881 = 0.5454.

4. Then simply press the ratio button on your calculator to get the answer of 6:11.

Thanks your answers, but in exam calculator not available. Please give ratio find out with correct method.
