Percentage Distribution of Total Expenditure of a Company
3.
What is the ratio of the total expenditure on infrastructure and transport to the total expenditure on taxes and interest on loans?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the total amount of expenditures be Rs. x.
Then, the total expenditure on infrastruture and transport
= Rs. [(20 + 12.5)% of x]
= Rs. [32.5% of x]
= Rs. | 32.5x | ||
100 |
and total expenditure on taxes and interest on loans
= Rs. [(10 + 17.5)% of x]
= Rs. [27.5% of x]
= Rs. | 27.5x | ||
100 |
Required ratio = | 32.5x/100 | = | 13 | . | ||
27.5x/100 | 11 |

Infrastructure + transport = 32.5.
Taxes + loan = 27.5,
Ratio of total expenditure = 32.5 : 27.5.
= 32.5/27.5,
= 325/275.
= 13/11.
Taxes + loan = 27.5,
Ratio of total expenditure = 32.5 : 27.5.
= 32.5/27.5,
= 325/275.
= 13/11.

@Meliza.
Try this technique.
Infrastructure + transport = 32.5.
Taxes + loan = 27.5.
32.5/27.5 = 1.18.
13/11 = 1.18.
Try this technique.
Infrastructure + transport = 32.5.
Taxes + loan = 27.5.
32.5/27.5 = 1.18.
13/11 = 1.18.

First we need to know what is total total expenditures of a company. From previous question, We know that expenditure for advertisement is = 2.10 crores.
So total expenditure of company is,
x = 2.10 (expenditure of advertisement) / 15 %.
x = 210/15 = 14 crore.
Now the total expenditure on infrastructure = 20 % of 14 = 2.8 crore.
Total expenditure on Transport = 12.5 % of 14 = 1.75 crores.
Total expenditure on taxes = 10 % of 14 = 1.4 crores.
Total expenditure on interest on loans = 17.5 % of 14 = 2.45 crores.
Therefore Required ratio = 2.8+1.75 /1.4+2.45 = 4.55/3.85 = 13/11.
So required ratio is 13:11.
So total expenditure of company is,
x = 2.10 (expenditure of advertisement) / 15 %.
x = 210/15 = 14 crore.
