Costa Rica launched the ICP mobile application through the Universidad de Costa Rica’s Clodomiro Picado Institute to assist in identifying venomous snakes accurately. The app covers 25 venomous species and also provides information on commonly confused non-venomous species, reducing misidentification risks. It includes visual aids, first aid instructions for snake bites, and geographical logging features to help healthcare providers determine the species involved in incidents. This initiative enhances public awareness, promotes safety, and prevents unnecessary harm to harmless snakes by offering reliable, science-based information accessible on both Android and iOS platforms.
