Kerala has achieved a significant milestone in judicial digitisation with the inauguration of India’s first fully paperless district court. The Kalpetta district court in Wayanad operates entirely in digital mode, ensuring that all judicial processes are conducted electronically. This includes case institution, pre-trial proceedings, evidence recording, interim applications, and final adjudication. Inaugurated virtually by the Chief Justice of India, this initiative reflects the state’s strong emphasis on e-governance and technological integration. The move enhances efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in the justice delivery system while reducing reliance on physical paperwork.
