Uttar Pradesh presented its second supplementary budget of ₹17,865.72 crore for FY 2024-25, which constitutes 2.42% of the original budget of ₹7,36,437.71 crore. The allocation includes ₹790.49 crore for new proposals, ₹422.56 crore from central schemes, and ₹30.48 crore for contingencies. This brings the total budget size for the fiscal year to ₹7,66,513.36 crore, emphasizing the state's fiscal planning and resource allocation.

Zeenat, a tiger translocated from Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, was moved to Similipal in Odisha to enhance genetic diversity. Shyam Singh Rana, the Haryana Agriculture Minister, launched the 21st livestock census at the government veterinary hospital in Radaur, Haryana. The livestock census, which is conducted every five years, aims to collect detailed data on domestic animals and poultry through a state-wide door-to-door survey. Initiated in 1919, this census plays a crucial role in helping the government formulate and implement policies for the livestock sector, making it an essential tool for agricultural development and planning in the state.

Uttar Pradesh is set to become India's top producer of cow milk, with an annual production of 5.29 million tonnes. The state's government, under Yogi Adityanath, focuses on cow welfare, including indigenous breed conservation, vaccination, and breed improvement. Additionally, Uttar Pradesh has invested in veterinary colleges, such as the ₹228 crore Gorakhpur Veterinary College, to further enhance dairy production and support sustainable agriculture.
