The launch of the first dedicated Braille library represents a major advancement in inclusive education initiatives undertaken by Uttar Pradesh. The facility offers access to over 4,000 Braille books aligned with the National Education Policy and covers 54 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Established at Dr Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University and inaugurated at a central library, the initiative aims to improve academic accessibility, independence, and equal learning opportunities. Through this effort, Uttar Pradesh demonstrates its commitment to empowering visually impaired students by strengthening educational infrastructure and promoting social inclusion.

The launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train marks a significant milestone in the country’s transition toward clean and sustainable transportation. Haryana has been selected for this pilot project, which will operate on the Jind–Sonipat route under Indian Railways. The initiative uses green hydrogen produced through electrolysis and aims to reduce carbon emissions by offering an alternative to diesel-powered trains on non-electrified routes. With a dedicated hydrogen plant set up at Jind and strong coordination between state and railway authorities, Haryana is playing a key role in advancing India’s green mobility and climate commitments.

Rajasthan hosted the Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 on January 6 in Jaipur as a key preparatory event for the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026. The conference witnessed participation from prominent leaders, including Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jitin Prasada, along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The event focused on the transformative role of artificial intelligence in governance, ethical frameworks, employment generation, startups, and emerging technologies such as Digital Twins. Several Memorandums of Understanding were also featured, alongside parallel events like Rajasthan DigiFest and the TiE Global Summit, highlighting the state’s growing focus on digital innovation.

Telangana has removed the two-child norm for candidates contesting local body elections through the passage of the Telangana Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the State Assembly. The decision was justified by Panchayat Raj Minister Anasuya Seethakka, who highlighted that the rural Total Fertility Rate stands at 1.7, indicating a declining population growth trend. Retaining the earlier rule, she argued, could negatively impact the state’s future demographic dividend. In the same legislative session, the Assembly also approved renaming Jaintirumalapoor as Jayanna Tirumalapur and passed two amendment Bills related to public services.

Andhra Pradesh ranked as India’s leading investment destination in FY26 by attracting 25.3% of the total proposed investments, according to a major banking sector report. The state surpassed traditionally strong performers such as Odisha and Maharashtra. Key sectors contributing to this achievement include power generation, renewable energy, and metals. Investor confidence has been strengthened by policy reforms, faster approval mechanisms, clarity in regulations, and strong infrastructure development, particularly in ports, energy systems, and industrial corridors, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a major driver of India’s investment growth.
