Karnataka launched the Centre of Excellence for Space Technology (CoE SpaceTech Foundation) in Bengaluru on May 1, 2026, to promote advanced aerospace research and innovation. The initiative aims to support both hardware and software development in cutting-edge space technology. The centre operates under the supervision of Priyank Kharge, the Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology. Bengaluru, often called the Space City of India, serves as a major hub for aerospace, defence, and software industries. The initiative also seeks to attract global scientists, researchers, and institutional investments through focused outreach programmes. Karnataka has been a pioneer in the aerospace sector and was the first Indian state to introduce a dedicated aerospace policy in 2013.

Sikkim became India’s first paperless judiciary state after the formal declaration made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant at a judicial conclave in Gangtok. The initiative completely removed the requirement for physical document submissions across courts in the state. The judiciary system now operates through e-filing platforms, centralised digital case management systems, and electronic archival of court proceedings and evidence. The transition involved extensive server setup and digitisation of historical case records over several years. The initiative supports the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by promoting technology-driven governance and modernisation of judicial administration. Sikkim, which became the 22nd state of India in 1975, is governed under special provisions of Article 371F.

The fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-IV) was launched in the Rayagada district, which is located in the state of Odisha. This initiative is part of a broader rural development strategy aimed at improving infrastructure and connectivity in remote and hilly regions. The project includes the construction of hundreds of new roads covering extensive distances to link previously unconnected areas. In addition to road development, financial allocations were made for housing, employment generation, and watershed management. These efforts are aligned with the state’s long-term development vision to enhance rural livelihoods and infrastructure.

Telangana introduced a significant reform in May 2026 by mandating a centralised procurement system for distributing educational materials in government schools. This initiative aims to ensure timely delivery and maintain uniform quality across all departments, including those serving backward classes, minorities, tribal communities, and scheduled castes. The policy replaces the earlier decentralised system, which had issues related to fund mismanagement and inefficiencies. By centralising procurement, the government seeks to enhance transparency, streamline logistics, and provide students with essential items like uniforms, notebooks, and school supplies efficiently.

Goa was chosen as the venue for the SAMVAAD 2026 national cybersecurity conference, organised by CERT-In under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The event focused on enhancing India’s cyber audit ecosystem and addressed emerging challenges in areas such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, IoT, and post-quantum cryptography. Hosted at the BITS Pilani K. K. Birla Goa Campus, it brought together over 500 delegates and featured numerous technical presentations. The conference also introduced new tools and certification programs aimed at strengthening cybersecurity practices, particularly for financial institutions and critical infrastructure sectors.
