Patna was the location where India’s first Victim Rights Centre (VRC) was inaugurated at the headquarters of the Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA) on Budh Marg. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant inaugurated the facility on September 26, 2026. The VRC functions as a single-window system offering free medical, psychological, legal, and social assistance to vulnerable groups, including elderly persons, survivors of sexual offences, and witnesses in sensitive cases. The inauguration also included the launch of the SITARA helpline for transgender persons and the flagging off of nine Multi-Utility Vehicles to provide legal aid at citizens’ doorsteps across Bihar.
