Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, discovered a new natural gas reserve in the Dandewala Field located in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. The discovery was made from the shallower Sanu Formation within the gas field and is estimated to produce around 25,000 standard cubic metres of gas per day. The gas is noted for its high quality due to low carbon dioxide content, making it economically and environmentally significant. This development strengthens India’s domestic energy production and aligns with the broader objective of Atmanirbhar Bharat by enhancing self-reliance in hydrocarbons and reducing dependence on imports.

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) commissioned a 3.37 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Khavda, Gujarat, marking the largest such facility outside China. The project achieved global recognition due to its massive scale and rapid execution within just 10 months of construction. The system enhances renewable energy reliability by storing large amounts of electricity and supplying power during demand peaks. It can power around 1 million homes for a full day and support millions of LED bulbs for extended hours. Khavda is also a major renewable energy hub where AGEL is developing one of the world’s largest clean energy plants.

The Museum of Medical Archives, recognised as Kerala’s first private medical museum, was inaugurated in Ulloor, Thiruvananthapuram, on May 26, 2026. It was established by A Sivaraman, a former artist-modeller from the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram. The museum showcases handcrafted anatomical models, microbiology archives, and educational exhibits that visually represent complex medical concepts such as embryology, circulation, and cellular processes. Its primary aim is to convert textbook-based diagrams into accessible three-dimensional learning tools for students, children, and the general public. The museum also highlights the long history of medical education in Kerala and the evolution of scientific teaching aids.

The Governance Summit 2026, themed "Inclusive AI for Viksit Bharat," was organised on May 23, 2026, at the Mohali campus of the Indian School of Business (ISB). Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Bharti Institute of Public Policy at ISB, the summit focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence for digital commerce, online safety, healthcare access, job creation, and public service delivery. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) in Oslo, Norway, on May 22, 2026. The five-year agreement aims to strengthen technical cooperation in tunnel engineering, slope stability analysis, natural hazard mitigation, and highway infrastructure development. The collaboration focuses particularly on geologically sensitive regions and challenging terrains.
